Let us begin with a merry christmas to all of you. Being home for the holidays gives yo a chance to truly appreciate all of those things you work so hard for. Day in and day our work can be such a drag, but when you get home you begin to realize why you do what you do.
That said, for my my work out brings me great joy... not just endorphins, but joy. I feel like I have accomplished something and we all know that in the not to distant future lies beach season and we all want to prepare for that... the hell with racing.
Well so far I am gaining some consistency...
Friday I went for a massage, as I was limping something fierce as my glue-med was on fire and I had no idea why. I got to my massage and told my sports therapist of my ailment. As he examined my wound, I asked, "Any idea what might have caused this?" and without missing a beat, he replied, "triathlon." and then he proceeded to make my cry. Sigh.
Saturday's final work out of the season was a real bear. to start off with, Tri-Girl and I were able to finally go together to a Sat workout. So with trainers in hand, we made are way to the Pan-Am and got there a goo 30 minutes early. Consequently, by the time the team had a bit of a warm up, we were already at 1 hour in the saddle. The main part of the workout was to get some sense of your MAX HR. So every 2 minutes, we were to pick up a gear and 2-3KMPH of speed so that by the time you hit about 16 minutes, we were all done. I did learn something new, as I thought my MAX HR on the bike was 151... well let's just that I was really wrong as I maxed out at 171.
Here is the data.... [just click on the "view details" at the bottom rectangle below for more info]
Sunday we took off... as it was spent wrapping and wrapping and wrapping. Man is that hard on your back.
Monday.... Tri-girl and I took the kiddies and were in the pool at 7:30 a.m. and split a lane. Got in a solid 30 minutes of free while the kiddies splashed in the Family pool. The swim was good and went by fast enough, but I could easily tell that I had not been in the water for a while. We then hit the steam room and then let the kids monkey about on the largest play-structure that I know of.
Tuesday... Christmas... up at 5:30 and stressed until everyone left at 8:30.
Wednesday wanted to get up for a swim, but the internal alarm let me sleep until 7:30. No need to rush... this is holidays. So a run in stead. Problem... my cut off for running is -29˚C with the wind... and it was -29˚C with the wind... ah what the hell.... Tri-Girl had got me cleats for running that attach to the bottom of your shoes, so I had to go.
Here's the data for what it's worth.
